What is Operation Christmas Child?
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease, and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
Every year, Hope Chapel Honolulu comes together to pack boxes to send off to children who are less fortunate. Some of our members have also traveled with the boxes to continue the ministry with the children who will receive them. The image to the right displays last year's (2017) totals in terms of boxes that were packed for Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child initiative. Of the 27,630 boxes that were supplied from the island of Oahu, Hope Chapel Honolulu had the honor of providing 1,100 of those boxes. We have been fortunate to be able to merge two of our partnerships by packing boxes for OCC with the women of the Women's Community Correctional Center (WCCC)
